Before graduating from art school I fell in love with a man whose ancestors were all from the south of China. The night before our wedding my mother and father-in-law brought me a traditional Chinese wedding gift, beautiful jade jewelry. I had never seen real, high-quality jade gemstones before and this experience inspired me to learn more about jade and pursue an artisan career.

My jewelry is both organic and symmetrical. My inspiration comes from Art Deco and Art Nouveau architecture, furniture and tapestries with dramatic, curves and edges, moving out in different directions. I carve my designs from sheets of silver, bend the carved silver into a 3D shape, solder a bezel, sand each piece and then set a gemstone.
